Art for Change: A Peace Campaign Nov 12

If you like art and want to support women's peacework around the world, join us on Sunday November 12, from 2:30 to 5:00 pm at Winnebago Studios (2046 Winnebago St in Madison), for Art for Change: A Peace Campaign.

For a $100 donation, you will receive a work of art donated by locally- and nationally-known artists, via a lottery system. Donors receive a ticket with a number on it, and select their piece of art when their number is called.

All proceeds will benefit orphanages run by RAWA, the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan, and Women for Women International, an organization supporting women's projects in war-torn areas.

RAWA operates nine orphanages -- five in Pakistan and four in Afghanistan. The organization cares for more than 350 Afghan refugee children, providing an education that includes tolerance and equality.

Women for Women International helps women in war-torn regions rebuild their lives by providing financial and emotional support, job skills training, rights awareness and leadership education. Those affected by the conflict are overwhelmingly civilian women and children. Women for Women International helps women rebuild their families, their communities and ultimately, their nations.
